A Trip to East Java – Batu, Malang (16 – 17 June’15): Day 3

Today (17 June’15) is the third day of our journey to East Java. Our plan for today is to visit Museum Satwa and Batu Secret Zoo. And then, we are going back to Surabaya with so many nice memories of Batu, Malang :-)
We’re having breakfast at Pohon Inn Hotel restaurant, a unique restaurant surrounded by an artificial jungle and a collection of big-cats (jaguar, leopard and cheetah) behind a thick glass cage.

After breakfast, we packed up our bags, checked out of the hotel and went to the Museum Satwa. This is located right next to Pohon Inn Hotel. Museum Satwa is actually a ‘taxidermy museum’, with huge collection of species, from big to small, from elephants to butterfly and any kind of small bugs. We took some nice pictures in the location.

We walked through the museum and arrived at Batu Secret Zoo, which is located also next to Pohon Inn Hotel only that the zoo lays across to the Museum. Basically, our hotel is ‘integrated’ with the zoo and with the museum. Cool! Batu Secret Zoo is a big zoo, with a huge collection of species, from African lions, Siberian tigers to species of reptiles, birds, fishes, kangaroos and mammals from all over the continents.

Tips: The zoo provides also electronic bicycle that can be hired for a reasonable price.
Batu-Malang is quite cold at night, don't forget to bring your coat.

A Trip to East Java - Surabaya (15 June'15)

It’s 06.20 early in the morning and we’re already at Soekarno-Hatta international airport. Our luggage is packed and we’re ready for our flight from Jakarta to SurabayaJ on 07.50. It’s been almost 2 years since we last visited Surabaya

We arrived at Juanda international airport at 09.30, picked up by our relatives and immediately went to have brunch, i.e. our first day of culinary quest in the city J, at ‘Soto Ayam Cak Pardi’ at Embong Malang Street. Really delicious…’soto ayam’ is actually a sort of Indonesian style chicken soup, which is usually eaten with rice, rich in flavor and with strong spices…:))

After a heavy brunch, we’re heading to ‘Pasar Atom’, a market which is located at Bunguran street, one of the most crowded market-place in the city. ‘Pasar Atom’ consists of various shops: from fabric, jewelry, garments, decoration to DVD and accessories for mobile phone; and also many traditional delicious food stalls. We really enjoyed walking around and trying different kinds of snacks and cuisine.
